Just Another v65th Guy

Post by Sordsman »

Hey Everyone,

This is Mike AKA Sordsman. I've been flying with the 65th since December 2019 but I've been flying DCS since before DCS world was a thing haha. In the 65th I've been known to fly the Viper, Hornet, JF-17, Warthog, MiG-21, Harrier, and RIO for the Tomcat. I've also taken up GCI duties when needed. Typically whatever is needed of me I try to accomplish. My favorite missions are Red Air or SEAD, if you need someone to fly bandit or kill an SA-3 I'm your guy! I'm happy to be here with the 57th and look forward to combining forces for future LFE's.

Glad to see the Forum working for you Mike! I hadn't realized all the iron you wield in the sim. Mike worked in the real 65th squadron at Nellis, and can tell you all about how jets should be parked on the ramp. He's also a great stick in the viper, well versed in tactics, and (as he mentioned) always willing to step up and be helpful. He's an asset to the community.

Well I was assigned to the 57th Wing in real life under both the 57th AMXS (Viper AMU) and 757th AMXS (Thunder AMU) as an Aircraft Armament Systems Tech 2W171. Those MX squadrons directly maintained and supported aircraft for the 422nd TES, 66th WPS, and 64th AGRS. I've always wanted to create a v422nd TES, primarily as a workhorse to develop tactics and weapons employment based on how weapons systems work in DCS vs real life as they don't always work 1 to 1. Maybe if a v57th wing is being stood up they may eventually have a v422nd attached haha. Dances, those are just the aircraft I have used operationally with the v65th, on my own I have flown MiG-19, F-86, M-2000, C-101, and KA-50. We don't see a lot of need for those at the Barn so I don't stay proficient in them.

Actually we do! But we chose to use the 59th Test and Evaluation Squadron, we have skins for all the jets in 59th TES liveries that are used for test. Another squadron was already using the 422nd so we went with the 59th, Golden Pride! That's the 59th F5 livery on the front page of the website.
