Evaluation F5-E - 18 April 22

Post by Reaper »

Alright guys, I had a bit to let things sink in, and post this..

As you said Dances, we are all professionals which is something I noticed straight off the bat. I can therefore be honest and say that my flight was far below par, which makes sense as my exposure to this type of flying is very low. You guys have a high standard and I will try to do what I can to meet that standard.

On that before mentioned professionalism, please dont hold back on any pointers you might have, in order to make me a valuable asset to the v57th. Also, feel free to say I'm doing a shit job, as it for sure felt like it from time to time!!!

Personally I came up with the following:
1. F-5E Competence (cold and dark startup and basic aircraft handling)
2. Propee Comms (in the right order - 2 comes after 1 LOL)
3. Recognition and knowledge of the different formations
3.1 Recognizing and knowledge on correct positioning within the formation (lines e.g. vert. Stab and L/R wing, helmet and wingtip etc.

All in all, I believe stick time is one of the magic words!

Thanks to Toby who did an amazing job as lead, giving all possible pointers. Zee and Dances for the same support provided during the exercise.. truly an honor flying with you guys.. this will he a lot fun and it's exactly what I'm looking for!!

Lastly, on the old site, we had the possibility to write AAR (like this one). This might be an idea to do again, so these things dont get lost in discord? So, attach AARs to planned flights on the site (when planning becomes available?), what do you think? That way we/you/IP's can create a nice record of training flights.

Anyway, grateful for the opportunity to be here!

Reaper,

I think you're doing great actually. As you said, this kind of flying is new to you, but you have the airmanship to learn and perform well at whatever you set your mind to. Perfection isn't the expectation here, it's rather about learning the fighter pilot skillset. We've jumped around with you a bit between F-5 and F-16, and I think you e got a good sense of the tax form stuff now. As you go into F-5 BFM, it will all come together.
